We get off the plane and rush to the ticketing gate to figure out what's next. There were about 500 people in line in front of us - seriously. We stood in line for about 30 minutes and I swear there were about 1000 folks that joined the line. It was nuts! We got Delta on the phone via cellphone because there was no way we could stay in line that long. They only had a flight with a layover meaning 10 hours of travel time. By the way we would need to be back at the airport in less than 5 hours - I think it was 1 am by now. Our luggages was still going to Salt Lake City even if we decided not to go, it was a royal mess. We had to file a claim to get it back to Atlanta. Yes another line. Anyway we got a cab - that took another 30 minutes and went home to decide what to do and eat (about 2:30am).
We opted not to fly out today (Thursday), we just didn't have the mental and physical stamina for 10 hours of travel time. We plan to try again on Saturday though we don't know where our luggage is. Bummer, yeah I know. The crazy thing is that all the flights that left later than ours were able to depart on time because they were not in Atlanta when it snowed and didn't require deicing.
We went to bed about 3ish and we were back up at 7ish this morning to find this.
One of our huge pine trees fell and broke through the fence into our neighbors yard. Got to love MOTHER NATURE.
